SAD BOY ROUND-UP.

by J-01 on Aug 20, 2016

From Young Werther and Lord Byron, to Drake and Yung Lean, our favourite sad boys have been rounded up in a way more perfect than we could ever imagine. With sad boy fashion topping the charts yet again, it feels like the right time to revisit the men who established and revived melancholy aesthetics. And these icons definitely deserve to be saluted, because, as Dazed & Confused put it, it’s much easier to be a sad girl in fashion than it is to be a sad boy.

So the round-up goes: Young Werther (Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s 1774 protagonist from The Sorrows of Young Werther), Lord Byron (the dark British poet), Frédéric Chopin (the French composer of the Romantic era), Charles Baudelaire (French poet and epitome of the French enfant terrible), Peter Murphy (musician and “Godfather of Goth”), Morrissey (everyone’s favourite British crooner, head honcho of The Smiths), Seth Cohen (Adam Brody’s The OC character), Gerard Way (frontman of My Chemical Romance and pioneer of the emo movement), Drake (anyone remember the Take Care album?), and Yung Lean (literally - www.sadboys2001.com.)
