Yesterday, Stella McCartney released her adidas x StellaSport Autumn/Winter 2016 Campaign, complete with a lookbook and short film. Just in time for the Rio Summer Olympics, the collection is varsity-inspired and surprisingly old-school American. The short film is half animated, featuring a playing field and an all-girls team, presumably varsity as well. It’s complete with stars, stripes, and preppy, colourful prints. Perhaps a touch more exciting than her traditional, understated reputation with adidas, the collection is fun, energetic, and action-packed all at once.
For this season, Stella has been focusing on empowering women – this is tied in as well to her latest POP! fragrance campaign that features Grimes, Madonna’s daughter, and more. The adidas x StellaSport campaign, in a similar way, aims to give girls a cool, athletic confidence.
